Casablanca... at long last!

Casablanca lives!
As the adage goes, ‘No news is good news,’ and such has been the case here at Tierra Mitica.  Many wonderful things have unfurled since our last update – the first Mythic Voyage of the year came and went in April, gifting a small and intimate group of Argonauts with inspiration and vision to bring with them into their lives; a new volunteer, Bram, has joined our family and provided us with new and refreshing energy; Ruben

and the Maestras shared the jungle with us for a month, singing their powerful Icaros and planting Ayahuasca and Chacruna on our land. There is never a shortage of projects or things to do here at Tierra Mitica and we are currently breathing life into Casablanca as she nears her completion!

Casablanca, our main social building, is finally coming together and feeling more cozy and homey by the day – framed paintings now hang on the walls and the floor has been waxed with a beautiful earthen red color.  In the East Wing sits our living room with an inviting arrangement of comfortable couches and armchairs, perfect for lounging around, having a conversation with friends, or putting your feet up on a coffee table and simply relaxing.  At night the East Wing transforms into a cinema with a projector and a new surround-sound theater system where Tierra Miticans can enjoy a movie-going experience complete with popcorn right here in the jungle.  During the day, the sound system can be used to play music for yoga classes, ceremonies of dance such as the Five Rhythms, and even parties!

To the North, our tiled kitchen bar is complete.  It is a choice place to pull up a bar-stool and gossip about the latest happenings around Tierra Mitica while enjoying fresh squeezed juice from our garden and the many naturally growing fruit trees that have been living on our land long before we arrived.  To the South, the Spa room is becoming more enticing by the day as we prepare it for our Lovely Loretta
(and other body workers) to have a place to offer her healing hands in Thai massage.  In the spirit of naming almost everything around our land, the Monkey Room (the office) in the West Wing

offers a clean and uncluttered working space with a beautiful view for those who are looking to write or send emails, complete with a bathroom and small quarters next door in the Little Room where guests and volunteers can find a private place to rest when extra accommodation is desired.  The Villa, situated on the exterior of the East Wing, is nearly habitable and offers even more accommodation with two small rooms, a kitchenette, and showers.

The view of Casablanca both inside and out never ceases to inspire. Soon she will be nested in a vibrant bed of sunflowers of many varieties making her appear as a beacon of light amongst the surrounding jungle vegetation.  Come join us in enjoying the jungle breeze as it floats through our open and airy Casablanca. She is finally alive!
