House for the Shipibo

Site for the Shipibo House

A couple weeks ago we started building the house for the Shipibo. First, we found the perfect location for the house, centrally located but still secluded to provide the Shipibo maestras and maestros some privacy. Then construction began in earnest.

We're still amazed at how quickly the house is being built and we think that in another day or two it should be completed and ready for the Shipibo to move in (read more about the Shipibo healers

The house has three rooms, two for the women and one for the men, abathroom and a shower room as well as a traditional outside kitchen for them to cook their food the way they like it. It is a short walk down a pathway, crossing a stream through a beautiful wooden bridge to the outdoor ceremonial area and the main ceremonial maloca.

We really want them to feel comfortable and at home with us since they will be staying practically permanently with us, growing their medicinal plants and sharing TierraMitica life. We think they will love the house we built for them!!!!
